Talking Drum Ensemble

Explore the instruments, rhythms, songs, and traditions of the Dagomba people of Northern Ghana! In this hands-on experience, participants will learn about the traditional luŋa and guŋ-gɔŋ drums, whose rhythms reflect patterns in speech and can communicate layers of meaning.

Discover the important role drummers play as musicians, counselors, and preservers of history while playing authentic, handmade instruments from Ghana. Through rhythm and music, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the rich culture and traditions of the Dagomba people.
