Next cohort starts January 2027 (Now Enrolling!)

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a research-based physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors reclaim their total health. Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals. They'll learn endurance, strength, flexibility, and balance, which helps to improve confidence and self-esteem by focusing on the whole person and not the disease.

This is a 12-week program that helps participants rebuild muscle mass, regain strength, improve flexibility and endurance, and boost overall energy in a supportive small-group environment. Many participants have found the social component is also a benefit. Friendships are forged, and support is provided that often carries beyond the class.

This program is free to anyone living with or beyond cancer treatments. Support/caregivers are welcome.

Friends who met during the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Program got together to create a gift basket of handmade children's clothes, which we auctioned off at our DREAM BIG Annual Gala and Auction.

Evidence-Based Health Intervention Programs

The MetroWest YMCA has a dedicated department that helps individuals prevent and manage chronic conditions, reclaiming their health and quality of life. These evidence-based programs have shown quantifiable results and support individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, cancer, and neuromuscular conditions like Parkinson's. Programs are offered free of charge to community members and either enroll on an ongoing basis or are offered several times a year.
